8 Canadian Streetwear Brands

Reigning Champ


Reigning Champ was founded by Craig Atkinson in 2007, quickly becoming a mainstay in the Vancouver streetwear scene. The highly sought-after brand focuses on producing high-quality, comfortable basics, adhering to its slogan, "Respect the details. Master simplicity." The brand's rapid rise resulted in a partnership with Adidas Athletics in 2016, as the two brands teamed up to release an athleisure collection. Since then, the brand has continued to dominate the basics market, with popular items ranging from hoodies, and sweatpants, to gym-ready sneakers and beach slides. The brand's colour palette remains locked into neutral tones like greys and navy blues, providing versatility and longevity.



OVO


Now a globally renowned brand, OVO was started by music phenom Drake, a proud Torontonian. The brand is affiliated with the record label co-founded by the 6 God, producer Noah "40" Shebib and Oliver El-Khatib. The brand's clothing consists of everyday apparel and accessories, emblazoned by the brand's name or signature owl logo. The brand has consistently produced popular collaborations with other brands, including Jordan, Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, Roots, Bape, and the University of Toronto. With the international Presence that Drake carries and his loyal fanbase, the OVO brand is bound to be relevant for a long time.



Frankie Collective


A unique streetwear brand, avid members of the community would have probably heard of the apparel produced by this brand. As the sister brand of vintage boutique shop F as in Frank, led by creative director Sara Gourlay, Frankie Collective reworks old vintage garments from Nike, Champion, and Supreme into unique clothing pieces. The brand's shorts, bags, and hoodies sell out in minutes, with each piece being one of one. The brand has garnered attention from celebrities, SZA, Kaia Gerber, Jordyn Woods and Alexis Ren all being seen rocking pieces from the brand.



PARADIS


A Paris and Montreal-based brand founded by Emeric Tchatchoua 3.PARADIS truly has a global presence. The brand is known for its "disruptive, chic and poetic" clothing with good messaging throughout. 3. PARADIS's success is well established, having been nominated for the prestigious LVMH Prize in 2019. Centring around peace and love, the brand supports a refreshing aesthetic with a philosophical touch. Influenced by popular culture and street fashion, Tchatchoua apparel appeals to a wide audience through his combination of intellectual ideas and creative art.



Carson Cartier


With the brand named after himself, Carson Cartier is a Vancouver-based multidisciplinary artist who incorporates aspects of his interests in painting, photography, digital art, and fashion into his work. Cartier draws inspiration from music, visual arts, and subcultures for his clothing, falling between minimalism and abstract work. Garments ranging from jackets, sweaters and pants, shirts, and tees Cartier truly displays his artistic expression in his clothing as he continues to sell art pieces to complement his work.



Saintwoods


Coming out of Montreal, Saintwoods is a creative agency founded by Zack Macklovitch and Nathan Gannage. The pair are influential names in the cities live music and nightlife scene. The talented duo began making clothing between owning several bars and writing editorials for Canadian designer retailer SSENSE. By initially selling their clothing as promotional merchandise at parties, the brand quickly gained traction and demand. They shifted their focus to the clothing brand, releasing a catalogue of matching sweatsuits, logo hoodies and tees, graphic tees, a survival kit filled with rolling papers, a matchbox, and a grinder card. The brand now continues to produce clothing that quickly sells outs, with novelty items stemming from inspiration related to their lifestyle.



Raised by Wolves


Based in Montreal, streetwear brand Raised by Wolves celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2018. The brand specializes in producing high-quality, cozy garments that are suitable for both genders. With an outdoor-inspired style, Raised by Wolves is perfect for a laid-back aesthetic, producing unisex sweatshirts and graphic tees to GORE-TEX Reebok sneakers and accessories like six-panel caps. The brand also prides itself on community, having collaborated with numerous local and international artists, musicians, photographers and brands, as well as restaurants, breweries, skate parks, schools and museums. With eye-catching graphics, Raised by Wolves has cemented a bold perspective that resonates around the globe.



Dime

A brand that has helped put Montreal streetwear on the map, Dime has been a fan favourite amongst the skateboarding community. Known for its aesthetic and

durable clothing, the brand has released creative graphic tees and its own branded toaster and candle in 2018. Starting off as a teenage skateboard crew in 2005, the Dime quickly expanded into a youthful multi-faced brand, drawing inspiration from skate culture, nostalgic '90s hip hop, and street art. Showcasing creative designs, Dime releases familiar silhouettes in relaxed fits, classic hoodies, crewnecks, sweatpants, and panelled caps bearing the brand's famous embroidered logo. Dime continues to grow rapidly while remaining true to its "humour-first, skating-second" mentality.
