About Us
Welcome to the NK Community
Northern Kicks strives to create a hub for Canada's streetwear consumers, creators, and enthusiasts by engaging, educating, and amplifying Canadians. Our mission is to strengthen Canadian presence in streetwear, focusing on content tailored towards university students. To do so, we create accessible content, meaning two things: 1) Northern Kicks is completely free to use and 2) our content is jargon-free.
Our Story
Northern Kicks was founded in 2021 by 4 marketing students at the Smith School of Business of Queen's University. As a part of their Internet Marketing project, they chose to combine their passions and expertise in streetwear, design, and marketing, to form an online blog and community for like-minded individuals.

Why I Love Streetwear?

I find myself drawn to streetwear and clothing as a means of expression. Creativity within the industry has lead to numerous brands, each with their own identity and vision. The role of the consumer is then to represent that identity.

Favourite Brands?

I personally am drawn to the bold yet classic look of brands like Fred Perry, or Raf Simons. My all time favourite clothing brand is Unaware, which was founded by my friend and housemate. You should check it out on instagram @unawareap.

Why I Love Streetwear?

I love streetwear because the pieces looks simple, and are very versatile for your closet. However, when you look deeper, each piece is incredibly unique in the story that is told by creators and brands.

Favourite Brands?

My favourite brands are Jeffery Campbell, Acne Studios, and Vivienne Westwood. My favourite item or clothing in my closet is a pearl necklace passed down to me by my grandmother. I guess that is more of an accessory but I love dressing myself in pieces that have sentimental value.

Why I Love Streetwear?

My love for streetwear and sneakers started in high school, primarily due to the culture and community that surrounds it. Streetwear is a modern aesthetic that allows individuals to creatively express themselves through clothes in a variety of ways. My favourite aspect of streetwear is vintage clothing, as it caters to my unique and sustainable style.

Favourite Brands?

I personally have always been drawn towards designers who produce clothes that reflect their artistic expression, mainly Kaws and Eric Emanuel. I have also always been a huge Air Jordan fan and own both sneakers and apparel from the brand. My favourite streetwear item in my collection is my UNC Jordan 1 Low SB’s.

Why I Love Streetwear?

I love streetwear because it allows me to express myself with clothing, while also staying comfortable. My love for streetwear and sneakers started when I moved to the US and saw almost everyone at my school wearing a new pair of sneakers each day. Since then I have started my own collection of streetwear and sneakers that keeps growing.

Favourite Brands?

My favourite brands have always Stussy, Palace, and Pleasures. However, more recently I have been trying to find smaller and less well known brands to add to my collection. Some of my favourites are Basketcase Gallery, FELT, Foul Play and Neighbors.
