A Guide to Streetwear in Kingston

Updated: Dec 4, 2021

As you will come to see, much of the fashion shopping scene in Kingston Ontario revolves around more boutique styles and vintage items. With a blossoming thrifting community, Kingston is home to a variety of consignment stores, as well as small clothing stores which sell specialty items difficult to find elsewhere. Whether you are shopping for a tried-and-true style, or experimenting with something new, Kingston probably has a clothing store for you (although we highly recommend trying the latter!). All businesses will be linked - remember to shop local!

BSE Skateboarding

BSE Skateboarding sells what you’d think they sell - skateboards and accessories. But amidst all of the decks, trucks, wheels, and bearings, you can find a very curated assortment of clothing which includes both brand-name items, as well as BSE’s own line of apparel. A list of items sold by the store includes pants, t-shirts, tanks, long sleeves, hoodies, jackets, shorts, and more. Catering to the male fall style, all of the items sold by BSE are sure to keep you extra comfortable in a casual style, and reasonably priced!

UNDR for Men

UNDR is a store located on Princess St. selling, you guessed it, men’s underwear. Hey, if you’re running short, we don’t count undies out from the streetwear bracket. Nevertheless, this store also sells a boutique variety of male clothing and accessories. Their small collection of high-quality denim and corduroys can be paired with virtually any outfit, and are sure to last in regard to quality. As per the caveat, don’t expect a cheap visit to UNDR, as they sell premium garments at relatively high prices ($150 for pants).

Agent 99

With a mission to bring customers products that cannot be found elsewhere, Agent 99 is a must-know for any Kingston gal looking for a new weekend outfit. True to their promise, the store sells garments in a variety of styles, including lots of fun & stylish tops, with varying levels of formality. The price is on the high side, but for a boutique local store with advanced sourcing, $60-$100 for a sweater is relatively reasonable. Oh, and they have a stunning website that makes ordering online seamless.

YGK Thrift

This vintage consignment store sells second-hand items which have been curated for style and quality. They sell a wide assortment of items, like your usual thrift store, however, the crowd at YGK is often electric with Queen’s students looking for some good deals. Whether you’re looking for a full fit, or just a small item to add to your style, YGK thrift probably has something you’re looking for. If not, it probably has something you weren’t looking for, but end up buying, and that’s the beauty of thrift stores! Also, all proceeds are donated to Almost Home in Kingston which supports children receiving medical care!

Urban Outfitters

Last but not least, we can’t exclude Urban from this list. Although not local, or boutique, it certainly is the largest streetwear store in downtown Kingston, boasting two stories of displays and garment racks. This is the spot to go when you’re looking for those quick and trusted purchases from brands you already enjoy, like Champion or New Balance. Selling clothing for both sexes, and many unisex items as well, Urban Outfitters usually has something for everyone. Be prepared to wait in checkout lines during busy hours, as the store can become packed on higher traffic days.
